West Crete du Tourmalet - Alternate #1 Map

The West face of the ridge of the Pic du Tourmalet has many interesting lines to ski! Between the peak and the col of the ridge (to the North), there are three main lines, and many more open up depending on how the snow fills in. Alternate #1 is the middle of the three. The lines to ski are interteresting, mildly winding couloirs with with sections of varying difficulty. Approach from the top of the Panoramic lift and follow the East ridge of the Pic du Tourmalet up, and then cross, climber's right, the snowfield to the summit. From there, ski along the top of the ridge to the couloir of choice. Find more info and photos at www.couloirquest.com. The difficulty rating for this route uses the posted FATMAP criteria.
