Snæfellsjökull Winter I Map

I could say "The safest" route from Arnastapi to the peak of Snæfellsjökull glacier, when the mountain road is burried by snow in the winter.

Description

I've summited with my dog "Sky" middle of February 2024.

This is the route when you cross many crevasses so you have to make sure they are well covered with snow. I say it's difficult only because of the length, so you need to prepare for a long hike up.

Route is not steep, but I've rated as difficult also, because it's a glacier so you have to be aware there are constantly developing crevasses.

You can check my a bit faster route "Snæfellsjökull Winter II". It's just a bit shorter, but more steep just before getting closer to the base of glacier and more crevasses are under the snow in this area of glacier.

You can see the reels on my Instagram to get more familiar with the surrounding area. I love this climbe, this is the highest peak in the area and you have ocean view North, South and West!
