Description

Take the prepared track towards Malga Federa - Croda da Lago, marked as track 432. It will take you to the mountain farm Malga Federa in about 2 hours (6 km). The mountain farm is in an enchanting position, at the centre of a clearing framed by the forest and mountains, with splendid views over the Ampezzo Valley: mounts Croda da Lago and Becco di Mezzodì on one side, Pomagagnon, Cristallo and Faloria on the other. From here it’s possible to go further by following the same track for about an hour until you reach the enchanting Lake Croda da Lago.

For the return, you can ski down the same route.

The time is for the entire itinerary.

HOW TO REACH THE STARTING POINT From the centre of Cortina, take the road towards San Vito di Cadore-Venice. Shortly after having gone past the roundabout near the church Madonna della Difesa (not far from the cemetery), take Via delle Guide. Before the hill up towards the state road, turn right, continuing towards the hamlet Campo di Sotto. From here, turn right before the Enel power station, reaching the car park 50 metres above Chalet Lago Pianozes.

NOTE: During the winter season the Rifugio Croda da Lago (Palmieri) is closed.
