Palon de la Mare, 3703m, Ortles

From Rifugio Martello (2610m) skin up on the vedretta della Forcola towards Cima Cevedale. (We did not summit due to the high winds but it's possible to do this tour summitting Cima Cevelade and then to Monte Cevedale) Below Cima Cevedale, at the pass at about 3560m we skied down to approx 3460m and skinned towards the South West to travers the vedretta de la Mare. From an obvious flat spot ski down and pass the rocky bands below passo Rosole. From the lowest point, skin up west towards Col de la Mare (3442m). From Col de la Mare get around an Antecime and rich up the Palon de la Mare 3703m. Check from the top the descente as there is quite a bit of crevasses and seracs. Left hand first then traversing the plateau to take a right hand. Then the slope is wider and you have more options. We finished by a steeper couloir on a right inside but it's possible to stay on the classic descent to avoid the steep. Reach out the rifugio Branca.
