Val Canali Map

One of the numerous valleys which are reachable from the lunar landscape of the Rosetta plateau is the famous Val Canali. This tour is a true high mountain experience into these wild surroundings: from the snowcapped dunes up on the plateau - which create a quite unusual landscape for being in the middle of the Dolomites - to the narrow Val Canali which lies in between enormous rocky walls. Well, it is definitely an experience that will leave a mark!

Description

The starter on the menu is - as for the majority of the tours here - starting from San Martino di Castrozza village, taking advantage of the lift all the way up to the plateau. Crossing south and making your way thorough the the dunes will lead you all the way up to Cima Fradusta - which opens up an amazing view that could also offer glimpses of the Adriatic sea. The climb to Cima Fradusta is about 450 vertical metres and from the top of mountain station of the cableway: from here you are finally ready to enjoy 1800 vertical meters of descent through Val Canali - starting with a slightly more narrow lines then opening up into a wide valley until the tree line.

The exposition of this tour makes it a perfect choice for a corn chasing day, as the sun often softens up the top layer into a very nice silky smooth buttery snow that will let you enjoy not only the sun in your face but also the feeling of a good and fast snow under you bases.
