This is a popular ski touring route which is generally considered to be severe. It's extremely remote, it features low exposure (e1) and is typically done between December and April. From a low point of 903 m to the maximum altitude of 1.4 km, the route covers 100 km, 2439 vertical metres of ascent and 2523 vertical metres of descent. It's graded 2.3 and Labande grade 2. You'll need skins to complete it safely.

Description

This is a committing trip travelling over the high Arctic plateau of the Hardanger – famous for its links with the Heroes of Telemark and used as a training ground by Amundsen before his expedition to the South Pole.

Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
