Pumamarca Trek by Las Qolqas Eco Resort Map

A hike to Pumamarca Fortress along an Inka Trail visiting the Pre-Hispanic Agricultural Terraces of Musqa Pukyo, Choquebamba and Media Luna.

Description

You will walk along Millenary Inka Trails with hardly anyone in site. Pumamarca is a Pre-Inka citadel perched on a ridge controlling the access to Ollantaytambo from the jungle to the east. The fortified city has numerous well-kept buildings of religious, administrative and military use and a large central square.

The agricultural terraces that you will see along the way are of different geometric designs and offer very fine examples of form and function being integral to Inka architectural design.

12.25 KM hike. Elevation gain 735 meters starting at 2,955 meters and peaking at 3,474 meters.
