This is a popular hiking route which is generally considered to be moderate. It's remote, it features low exposure and is typically done between April and October. From a low point of 1.5 km to the maximum altitude of 2 km, the route covers 5.6 km, 770 vertical metres of ascent and 275 vertical metres of descent.
Description
If you stay the night at Cabana Buta you can do a day hike up to Lake Bucura through Poiana Pelegii. On the way, in Șaua Plaiul Mic, just above Cabana Buta, you will encounter wild horses, usually in the mist.
