Dent de Lys - Face E Map

A beautiful face of Dent de Lys, to be done in stable avalanche conditions. The snow is quite preserved on this face, so if you time it well, you can get perfect conditions on the descent.

Description

The ascent via the SE ridge might require an ice axe and crampons, as it's large enough but exposed. It allows you to get a good visibility on the SE face (4.2, usually a bit rocky) and on the E face (well-preserved snow).

From the summit, you can also observe the NW face (4.3, watch out for the cliffs) and the S face (normal route, 4.1).

Many (steep) options to ski down the Dent de Lys, a well-known summit in the area but rarely done on skis ! A very rewarding ski tour, short but steep, only to be done in good conditions.

Difficulty

Severe

Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.

Medium Exposure (E2)
