Traverse of the Rätikon Day 3 - Goats and a tiny cable car between the Douglas Hut and Malans. Map

Start the day by passing around the lake and climbing up a steep slope back into Switzerland. Continue on an easy trail slightly donwhill with only a few easy climbs to Prättigauer. Soon you'll reach the Schesaplana hut, where you can treat yourself to a coffee and maybe a Tarte Grison.

Description

The terrain now changes as you run through green alps with sheeps, goats and cows. There's one more short but tough climb, before you continue on mountain roads passing Fläscher Alp, from where we turn towards Vilan. Take a single trail to short cut the trip to the mountain station of the Älplibahn - the smallest cable car in the Canton - which takes you safely back down into the valley and Malans.

Tip: Make a reservation to avoid waiting or risk not getting a spot in the cable car (http://www.aelplibahn.ch/)
