The Farmer's Loop bike path is a fantastic resource for local cyclists in Fairbanks, Alaska. This separated bike path completes a seamless loop around what's known as the "Farmer's Loop": a road through the farming country just north of downtown Fairbanks. With 15 miles of continuous riding on a paved path, it's a wonderful change of pace not to have to contend with car traffic.

The bulk of the Farmer's Loop heads into farming country and woodlands to the north of the city. You'll do some moderate climbing as the trail runs into the low hills, rewarding you with a fast-paced roll back down toward Fairbanks.

To complete the loop, you'll have to piece together some sections of bike path through the city, but most of the section shown here is still quite protected from traffic. It's possible to lengthen this bike path ride with sections of the Chena River Greenway, mapped separately, but it'll take a bit more navigation and a bit of traffic crossing to reach it.

If the Farmer's Loop itself isn't quite enough, there are plenty of other options for adding additional loops further north or adventurous spurs off the main loop. Riders on gravel bikes will have even more options to explore some steep climbs on gravel roads that reach the tops of the low mountains ringing the valley.
