The Castle Rock Trail (also known as "Castle Rock Peak") is a popular hike in the Big Bear Lake area, thanks to the beautiful view from the summit!

Description

In less than a mile of climbing and only about 550 vertical feet, you'll be able to reach the top of a small rocky summit that provides spectacular views over Big Bear Lake and San Bernardino National Forest.

While most hikers will have no problem reaching the top of Castle Rock, the climb can be steep, loose, and a bit rocky in places. This hike toes the line between "Moderate" and "Difficult" in our FATMAP ratings.

Note: There is very limited parking at the beginning of the trail along the shoulder of the road. On weekends, be sure to arrive very early in order to secure a parking spot.
