Rocky Southeast facing chutes in Keystone Backcountry Zone
Freeride Skiing Severe
The M-Chutes (Montezuma Chutes) are located in a backcountry zone adjacent to Keystone and can be accessed by hiking the North and South Bowl bootpack and ducking under the boundary line on hikers' right. These face southeast so expect some relatively rough conditions. These chutes are much more technical than the neighboring Sun Chutes due to how narrow they are. However, once past their initial chokes, they mellow out relatively quickly
Severe
Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
