The Buffalo Trail is a somewhat challenging hike through the Front Range, with some steep sections and rocky terrain. The trail is well-maintained and clearly marked, but it's still a wilderness hike with some steep and rocky sections so be prepared to be autonomous. The trail changes in character through the year - in spring and summer, wildflowers dot the landscape, while fall brings vibrant colors to the aspen trees.
Description
The Trail is in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, just a short drive from downtown Golden, and the trailhead is easily accessible from the park's main entrance off of Golden Gate Canyon Road.
