This is a popular ski touring route which is generally considered to be easy. It's remote, it features low exposure (e1) and is typically done between January and April. From a low point of 3.1 km to the maximum altitude of 3.5 km, the route covers 2.3 km, 1 vertical metres of ascent and 338 vertical metres of descent. It's graded 1.1 and Labande grade 2. You'll need skins to complete it safely.

Description

From Old Monarch Pass, ski any of several options into the western drainage. If you want to avoid the creek, the first clearing is the bail point. Otherwise, continue along it until the beaver ponds at the bottom of Hump 2.
