Pawnee Couloir Map

Ski this early in the season, as it's south-facing and makes for a much more difficult descent after the top portion is melted. Follow the Isabelle Glacier Trail for 2mi or so, until you reach Lake Isabelle. From here, go north uphill until you can see the peak ahead of you. Pick your way through the rocks to the base of the couloir you can now see on the looker's right side of the mountain.

Difficulty

Severe

Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.

Low Exposure (E1)

1 out of 4

Exposure is limited to that of the slope itself. Getting hurt is still likely if the slope is steep and/or the snow is hard.

Remoteness

3 out of 4

Little chance of being seen or helped in case of an accident.
