Shoshoni Peak Southwest Couloir Left Map

This couloir is super steep and punctuated by a rock headwall. There are two ways around this:

  1. Climb the rock rib looker's right of the headwall (Class 5.2).
  2. Climb an ice-covered chockstone in the couloir.

Description

Either way, a rope is probably warranted. To top it off, there's a cornice once you're past all this if you're up here early enough.

Approach via the Isabelle Glacier. This is the second-to-last couloir to the climber's right on the cirque. Once you've made it to the top it's a quick jaunt to the summit, but it's not a cakewalk to get there.
