Y Chute Entrance Map

On a powder day, you need not ask why, but more empathically exclaim Y! From the top of Larkspur, ski that cat trail right towards Loco. Glide 1000 ft until you see the boundary gate for hikers to pack up the ridge to the Y chutes. This is an advanced backcountry run down Avy terrain that faces east, so be very careful and wear equipment! This side of the valley gets sun baked so be cautious of layers and crispy crunch. Hike up from Larkspur 500ft till you reach the exposed ridge line. From here you can ski down the ridge to the “rock face”. However, you can access this face via the Loco gate with no hike. Or you can ski directly off the ridge at any point accessing Y1. Or you can hike up another 1000ft to the bald nose and setup for Y1 & Y2 chutes.
