The Wonderland Trail, when paired with the Ship Harbor Trail, make for two of Acadia's best easy and family-friendly day hikes. The Wonderland is an out-and-back to a coastal point "where children and adults alike enjoy searching for life in the various tide pools," according to this source. The well-maintained path wanders through a beautiful pine forest and is mostly passable with a wheelchair or stroller.

Description

1.5 miles round trip, the trail is simply an old gravel road to the ocean that is mostly level. On average, visitors complete the hike in around an hour, though you should factor in some extra time to explore the different vantage points and "crumbling pink granite along the coastline."

To hike the Wonderland Trail, park along Route 102A at the small pull-off or parallel along the road. The trailhead is minutes east of Bass Harbor, just past the aforementioned Ship Harbor trailhead.
