Hardscrabble South Facing Shelves Map

The South Facing Shelves of Hardscrabble Peak is a great place to ski a more varied, complex line. You really have to have your route dialled in this zone, there are multiple options and variations depending on snow level and conditions. The most obvious line goes from the top of hardscrabble down Southeast, keeping just skier’s left of fall line. You will be in one small bowl, then another, until you start to see a wide South facing chute below you. Get through tight, but short crux, banking a hard right into the wide chute and into the bottom of the Bowl. There are other options if you go fall line from the 2nd small bowl in the middle of the line. This option ends with tight chutes and a couple short spines before the wide open.
