October Chute Map

The October Chute is filled in many months out of the year, and holds great, wind protected powder most days. The snow stays cold in here due to its extreme north facing aspect. It is a great way to finish a lap on the Worm, or a good objective in itself. Beware the large boulder field at the bottom, sometimes these can be just barely covered with fresh snow. It is steepest at the very top, then mellows out for a nice consistent, albeit double fall line pitch for the remainder.

Difficulty

Severe

Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.

Medium Exposure (E2)

2 out of 4

As well as the slope itself, there are some obstacles (such as rock outcrops) which could aggravate injury.

Remoteness

3 out of 4

Little chance of being seen or helped in case of an accident.

Best time to visit

between October and July
