Franklin Headwall Map

Franklin Headwall offers some of the most open skiing on Mount Franklin, with beautiful views of the Dry River Wilderness. To access, skirt the Eastern Snowfield of Mount Monroe and follow the ridge South to the top of an open snowfield. Spotting the line from above can be challenging, so it's good to take note of some terrain features from afar to use as landmarks. Drop into the upper snowfield and enjoy excellent open turns, as the line steepens and becomes bushy, start to look for a sneak to skiers right. Enter a meandering gully that allows passage through the terrain. Ski through a small constriction, that gives way to the lower gully. Exit into open, bushy terrain, and begin your route out.
