The NCR Trail, also known as the Northern Central Railroad Trail and the Torrey C. Brown Trail, stretches 20 miles from Cockeysville to the Pennsylvania state line.

Description

The trail follows the path of the former Northern Central Railway, which was a historic railroad line that operated in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, the NCR Trail offers a picturesque route for hiking, biking, and horseback riding along the Gunpowder Falls River.

The trail is well-maintained and relatively flat, making it accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. It's divided into sections, with various access points and parking areas along the route, so you can hike as much or as little of it as you'd like.

Along the way, you'll encounter scenic overlooks, historic landmarks, and interpretive signs that provide insights into the area's rich history and natural beauty. Wildlife sightings are also common, with opportunities to spot deer, birds, and other native species.

The NCR Trail is popular year-round, with each season offering its own unique charms. In the spring, you'll find blooming wildflowers and lush greenery, while summer brings warm weather and opportunities for water activities along the river. Fall is particularly stunning, with vibrant foliage colors painting the landscape, and winter offers a peaceful (but cold!) opportunity for outdoor recreation.
