This is a wonderful hike through one of the most pristine and ecologically significant rainforests in the United States. The trail is best tackled in summer, but even then there is a reasonable chance of bad weather - this area is a rainforest after all! Even if you do encounter some typical Washington weather, this is still an excellent trip.
Description
The trail itself is clear, and free of major obstacles, and it goes from Willaby Creek Campground to Falls Creek Campground via the atmospheric Cascade Falls. The rainforest itself is stunning enough, but the huge views across Lake Quianault, and the abundant fauna make this a truly classic hike. You might be lucky enough to see elk, mountain goats, as well as a variety of bird species. There are plenty of black bears about, too, so carry a bear spray and make plenty of noise!
Once at Falls Creek Campground, stroll along Lake Quinault back to your start point.
