Moderate Hiking
The “short version” of the Inka Trail, is a fabulous hiking option for those who would love to arrive into MachuPicchu via the “Gate of the Sun”, without having to camp or sleep in a tent. Surrounded by a dense cloud forest, which is home for hummingbirds, tree ferns, dripping moss, spectacled bears … and more. Accompanied by the sound of birds, of the roaring Urubamba River and the fresh wind of the Valley, the views of the mountains are awe inspiring, as we ascend to the Inka site of Winayhuayna (only discovered in 1941). We will reach the “Sungate” in the afternoon hours, the famous lookout point where we will first see MachuPicchu in the distance, a “hiker’s landmark” for sure, where we will feel the accomplishment of nearly having finished our trek. On the second day of our itinerary and during the morning hours, we will head back to MachuPicchu Ruins for a Guided Tour, before we take an afternoon train back to Cusco. Come and join us on this excursion.
