From the back left-hand corner of the Bergisel car park, take the small forest track leading downhill and bearing right. This path quickly passes under the motorway and enters a forest, taking you almost immediately away from the city. Keep bearing right and heading downhill to reach the river. Continue on the track to the right to keep following the river and you will shortly reach a footbridge crossing it. Turn right at the other side of the bridge to continue following the small signs for ‘Bergisel-Lauf’ along a beautiful forest track which undulates gently alongside the river.

Description

Continue along the river until the next footbridge, cross the river and turn right to start climbing up through lovely forest until you emerge out on to the main road. Immediately before the road, turn 180 degrees to the right to take the narrow forest path leading upwards and away from the road, initially up some wooden steps. Now with the motorway down below on your right hand side, you will soon pass a monument and a statue before reaching a wider forest road, where you turn left to start heading downhill. Just after passing a temporary barrier across the road, turn right at the junction past another barrier to continue downhill following signs for Bergisel-Lauf.

The final stage of this route takes you through a small residential area with fantastic views across Innsbruck. Turn right to start running parallel to the valley and to pass the entrance to the Bergisel ski jump itself. Continue downhill past a great panoramic viewpoint across the city and to the mountains beyond, following signs for Bergisel-Lauf at every turn, to soon find yourself back at the parking area where you started.
