Follow the route to Montana Trees out towards Goat Peak and rather than dropping into the trees walk to the edge of the flat ridgeline until you can see the obvious South face of Goat Peak. Be careful on this part of the ridgeline, cornices on the north side grow to be as big as cars and are undistinguishable until you have passed them. When in doubt, stay in the trees.

Description

You'll reach an obvious scoop before you get to the summit of Goat Peak. You have a few options. 1) Climb to the peak and ski down into the bowl. 2) Changeover at on the lower ridge and ski down to the bowl. 3) Skin ski down and traverse across the S face to gain the skin track to Montana Peak. I generally choose option two as you don't have to awkwardly skin across the south face and you get extra turns!

Ascend the west ridge of Montana Peak through the trees. The main face can get a lot of wind affect so be sure to spend time evaluating the conditions before traversing some of the bigger unsupported slopes.

From the peak my favourite line is to ski the NW face, it usually has well-shaded snow and skis beautifully fall-line. There are a lot of lines to choose from including some fun carve-able lines on the south face further skier's left. Be mindful of the conditions and rock outcrops on these lines. They can heat up much quicker than expected!

Ski down to join Montana Trees, the terrain is a little roly-poly but generally all routes lead to the creek that will take you to the Catcher's Mitt. Ski tour up the Catcher's Mitt to the ski resort.
