Begbie Shoulder - 112 Gully Map

Until recently, I didn't know the name of this route, which is amusing as it's one of my favourite backcountry ski runs close to town.

Description

Following a similar up track to the Begbie Should treeskiing run, make your way to the top of the shoulder. While the beginning may put you off, keep a good pace and you will be rewarded with good views, great stories and one beautiful run down. You can double up the routes and get two runs for the price of one!

From the top of the shoulder take the most obvious branch down the gully. This area has huge overhead hazard, so heads up hockey before you drop in. There is a nice alternative route to the skier's left through the trees with an option to pop out into the gully lower down.

Enjoy some big open pow turns until things start to get a little more choky and you start to pick your way down. Depending on the time of year the foliage can be out so be sure to respect your alders.
