Lost Lake Blue Loop Map

The easiest singletrack trails in Whistler can be found in Lost Lake Park. But, like all the trail running in Whistler, there still isn’t anything “easy” about even the in-town trail system.

Description

The true green trails in Lost Lake Park are all graded gravel paths—not true trail running by most peoples’ definitions. This route, on the other hand, follows mostly blue “intermediate” singletrack trails (the easiest singletrack trails in the region), and yet the intermediate singletrack here is chunky, technical, and plenty rough. The challenge earns it a “Moderate” rating on our FATMAP Scale. And yet, in comparison to the absolute insanity you can easily access just a couple miles from Lost Lake, this “blue” loop offers an eminently approachable route.

Each short section of trail in this network has its own name, making it very difficult to refer to individual segments. Some of the most popular sections include Fountain of Love, Pinocchio’s Furniture, Disco Boy, Dwarf Nebula, Packard Goose, and the Grand Wazoo. If you take these trails as a whole and refer to them collectively, the singletrack flows up and down the hillsides, never running flat for long. This adds up to quite a bit of climbing overall, but unlike some of the other brutal straight-up-the-mountain hikes in the region, this loop is quite mellow and enjoyable.

While most of the singletrack consists of high quality, sustainable bench cut, the trail tread regularly crosses exposed slabs of bedrock, piles of rocky boulders, and tangles of roots. Over some of the lower sections that tend to hold water, wooden bridges have been built, some with intriguing turns and rolling humps.

Finish your Lost Lake Loop with a dip in Lost Lake itself, one of Whistler’s most popular lakes for swimming.
