Alpine Climbing Severe
This is a popular alpine climbing route which is generally considered to be severe. It's remote, it features medium exposure and is typically done between July and September. From a low point of 1.6 km to the maximum altitude of 3.5 km, the route covers 18 km, 2156 vertical metres of ascent and 2934 vertical metres of descent. You'll need ice axe, crampons, quickdraws, glacier kit, climbing shoes and wires and friends to complete it safely.
The Rouies face is about 800m of climbing with the 400m of the base of the face, a 200m of steeper climbing and the two last 200m of easy climbing. It's a committing route as you can't go down nor abseil the route. Only go when the weather is stable and the route dry.
