The short (5-10 minute) hike or side step to the top of the Bosse à Jules is a small price to pay considering you could easily spend a whole morning skiing a different line each time. You can ski almost any aspect you wish and while the descents are never long, they make up for it in sheer quality. Access is either from the Eychauda button lift or the Clot Gauthier chairlift. From the Eychauda, follow the ridge to the left at the top of the lift (Isolée black run). After skiing down the ridge then up again, turn left at the high point and follow the north facing slope down towards the Bosse à Jules straight ahead. From the Clot Gauthier chair, follow the red run Clot Gauthier towards the bottom of the Eychauda button lift. Continue past the lift and traverse off piste, keeping the steep north facing slope above to your right. Traverse and side step or walk up towards the small col straight ahead (3-4 minutes) then still pushing/walking, bear left, staying on the ridge until you reach the antenna. This is the top of the Bosse à Jules. There are a number of potential descents but the longest is straight down the convex, open, north facing slope that becomes dotted with small trees before rejoining the Clot Gauthier red run. Take care as the north face near the top can be very wind affected, rocky and prone to avalanche. For a less exposed route, ski down the ridge to the east and then at it’s lowest point, either turn left to rejoin the line described above or continue straight on (slightly uphill initially) towards an east facing tree run that joins the Rocher de l’Enfer red run. Check out your line on the way up the Clot Gauthier chairlift.
