Eyjafjallajökull - South route Map

I've climbed with my dog "Sky" on the 8th of April 2024, we've summited at the exact time of the Eclipse on that day, which made it so unique experience.

Description

You park your car one of the oldest swimming pool in Iceland from 1923 and instead going the path to the pool, you start climbing west through the wooden steps above ship fence. WARNING! This is my first attempt, I couldn’t find anywhere the safest or recommended route by that time in the whole internet. Luckily for me the crevasses were stable covered with snow, but the strong wind made the climbing surface very icy. You are welcome to youse my tracks as an inspiration, but I will try to establish better (safer) routes in the future between crevasses.

First part was wet and dirty, a lot of loose sand and rocks.

Round trip took us 7 hours, you can definitely make it faster, I was stopping a lot for video shoots.
