Starting from the mountain lodge Rifugio Col Gallina, take track n° 419 and follow it along the gentle grassy slopes that rise towards Monte Averau. After about 45 minutes, you will reach the small Lake Lìmedes, famous for its reflection of the mountain Tofana di Rozes. There are also wonderful views of Mount Lagazuoi, and you have one of the finest viewpoints onto Mount Averau. According to legend, if you watch the reflections in the water of this small lake, which are particularly beautiful in spring, the purest of heart will be able to see an Anguana, a water nymph of Dolomitic legend. Return to the start on the same route, until you reach the mountain lodge Rifugio Col Gallina. By car - From the centre of Cortina, follow the signs for the Falzarego Pass and drive along this very panoramic route for about 25 minutes. By bus - Dolomiti Bus operates connections from the Cortina bus station to the Falzarego Pass, and you can book the Col Gallina stop by request. As trips are infrequent, we recommend checking the Dolomiti Bus timetables when you are planning the walk.
