Meraftestinden (1348 m) North Variation Map

From the summit, head south along the ridge, staying on the flat area to the right and well-away from the potential cornices to your left. At the end, there is a little ramp (30°) that leads to the small north facing glacier. Be mindful of the small cliffs on either side of you. The entry to the ramp is at 68.168010/17.237055. Once on the glacier (1220m), enjoy pleasant fall-line skiing all the way down to Vesterskarelva. The upper section is quite flat, and later, at 900m, the route gradually steepens to sections of 30-35°. At about 500m you join your ascent route (Normal Route). Due to the northern exposure and relatively easy access, this route can deliver quality snow until late in the season, and can also be an amazing experience in the midnight sun.
