Are you ready for a 4 day hike? Hike 1000 meters over sea level between the small villages Krokan – Helberghytta – Kalhovd – Stordalsbu – Mogen. This 65 kilometer long hike offers a varied scenery and is truly an amazing adventure.
Description
Day 1: You start your hike from Krokan, down in Vestfjorddalen. Walk from Krokan Turisthytte to Helbergshytta, the self-service DNT lodge on Hardangervidda.
Day 2: From Helbergshytta you will continue to Kalhovd where you find the staffed DNT lodge Kalhovd Turisthytte.
Day 3: The trip continues on a construction road between Kalhovd and Stegaros. From Stegaros you then walk to the self-service cabin Stordalsbu where you can spend the night.
Day 4: The last day you will experience a varied and nice walk over to Mogen. If you wish to extend your hike you can take the ferry across Møsvatn from Mogen to Skinnarbu. You can also do this in the opposite direction. If so, you can start hiking by getting on the ferry – that ́s a pretty decent start.
