Red DH


The Red trail was added to the mountain in 2012 to provide a less extreme but just as fun option as doing the black run. Situated in the scenic glaciated valley of Glencoe the scenery is spectacular and barren. The trail winds its way down and across the open hillside with fast straights, berms, jumps and rough rock gardens.

As you exit the chairlift at the top of the track you make the short 15 metre journey to the top of the trail. The gradient on the top sections is easy but steep enough to gain speed simply by releasing the brakes. Out at the start there are some mellow natural rollers that lead into a small 3ft drop. This funnels you into a big sweeping right hand berm firing you out into a 10 ft (rollable) double jump which can provide plenty of speed when judged right. A few rocks and a river crossing take you onto the traverse which works its way directly across the hillside. This section is straight and fast with many compressions and crests that can be aired or squashed. Watch out for loose rocks as you fly out to the farthest point from the chairlift. The track then takes a sharp left berm and heads straight down the hill. Rock slabs lead you into a slightly steeper gradient with mellow turns and an almighty rock garden that rattles the bones. Hold on through this and you head down into an interesting section with lumpy rock formations with a wide track providing lots of line choice. Flat turns and blind crests take you down into some fast berms before the track bears left and makes it's way back towards the chairlift. A few more flowing but rocky berms lead you into 3 fast pinball straights. Large rocks litter these sections and your brain has to work fast to negotiate these smoothly. Once safely through these you then come into the bottom jumps; a 15 foot double, 10 foot slight left hip, 20 foot double, 20 foot double with a left turn on landing, a fast right berm, an awkward gap jump, a big compression in a left hand berm then fire out into the carpark to finish. An exhilarating end to a fast and rough track.



Mostly stable trail tread with some variability featuring larger and more unavoidable obstacles that may include, but not be limited to: bigger stones, roots, steps, and narrow curves. Compared to lower intermediate, technical difficulty is more advanced and grades of slopes are steeper. Ideal for upper intermediate riders.
