Surrounded by some of Pembrokeshire's most beautiful scenery the route takes you along an airy clifftop ridge, with pebble beaches and crashing waves below.

Description

Keep an eye out for staircases built into the cliff edges where exports were received many years ago.

You walk around the peninsula from Pwll Deri and then have sight of Strumble Head Lighthouse, built by Trinity House in 1908, marking the dangerous stretch of coast for vessels between Ireland and Wales. This stretch of coast is very dangerous, and some 60 vessels are known to have been lost along it in the 19th Century alone.

Carregwastad Point, a few miles east of Strumble Lighthouse along the Coast Path, is where a force of 1,200 French soldiers landed in 1797, the last time the British mainland was invaded. This is a very thought-provoking spot, as if it wasn’t for heroine Jemima Nicolas we could all be speaking French! There is a wonderful tapestry made by locals in the Town Hall and is well worth a visit. It depicts the French invading and Jemima rounding the troops to protect her land and country.

As you continue around your viewpoint soon changes and Dinas Head is in sight, then Lower Town Fishguard and finally Fishguard. Marked with an old cannon there is a beautiful viewpoint at the end of your walk as you descent to Goodwick.
