Upper Knife Ridge Chutes #1-21 Map

All of these chutes are extremely difficult, rocky, and narrow. Some require mandatory cliff drops and some are harder than others, but every single run here is extremely technical. The easiest of runs are towards the middle and are harder than your average double black diamond. The nastiest of runs are at the beginning and end of the ridge and are all only for the truly extreme skier. To get to these hike to the summit of Round Top peak and traverse left away from Round Top Bowl. All of these chutes lead to the base of Deadwood Peak and a few are right off the summit, however, it's worth skipping these as they don't hold snow very well. Continue traversing until you start going downhill from the summit. It is then you will come across a ridge nicknamed "Knife Ridge" as walking on it is like walking on the blade of a sharp knife. Looking at the frontside of Round Top Peak, there are 100+ nearly vertical cliffs. You have no room to mess up on this extremely narrow ridge. There are several points where you'll have to descent slightly to avoid unclimbable rock. Luckily, the nicest chutes (in the middle of the ridge) don't require that long of a traverse and hold snow really well. For the rest of the chutes, they should only be attempted by the most experienced of Free Riders. This is no place to mess up...
