Simpson-Reed Redwood Grove Map

Simpson-Reed Redwood Grove provides a short but beautiful jaunt through the redwoods, located right off the highway. Due to this trail's proximity to the highway, you're likely to share the grove with dozens of other people, but that barely diminishes the stunning natural beauty you'll encounter!

Description

"In contrast to the open, cathedral-like appearance of Stout Grove or the Boy Scout Tree Trail, the Simpson-Reed Trail has an unusually dense, jungle-like look, with greenery covering almost every available surface," writes RedwoodHikes.com. "In addition, for a lowland redwood grove, the Simpson-Reed area has an unusually large number of different kinds of plants," the writer continues. One of the most prominent types of undergrowth is the brilliant-green covering of towering ferns, adding a prehistoric feeling to the area.

The trail itself, like most redwood grove hikes, is smooth and nontechnical. In fact, it consists of compacted gravel that is built wide enough for wheelchairs to negotiate it. Anybody can enjoy this short but sweet hike in the redwoods!
