Zoot Chute Map

Zoot Chute is a line that doesn't appear on the official Aspen Mountain trail map. Located between S1 and Short Snort, this tricky little chute down a rock face is only occasionally skiable. To get here, take the S1 gate and traverse skiers' left at the top towards the cliffs. There's a chute that goes between two rock-bands. This is Zoot Chute. You'll know that you're in the right area when you seen the sign shown above. This chute is much steeper and more technical than the lines right next to it. It also takes a lot more coverage to ski well due to it being located on a rock wall. It melts out fairly early in the spring, thanks to sun exposure, and for the rest of the season, the snow can be funky. Make sure you're comfortable with S1 before attempting this line! If you just want to see it, enter at the top of S1 and work your way down the left side; you can bypass the chute and come out on Short Snort.
