High Trail Cliffs is a zone of Berthoud Pass that does not often get skied. The terrain is a lot of fun, but the snow does not often come into condition for it to be skied. This area gets hammered by the wind, usually making the snowpack in High Trail Cliffs thin. When there is good snow in High Trail Cliffs, be very aware of the avalanche danger. An avalanche in here has large consequences because of the rock outcroppings and the abrupt pitch change at the bottom. However, if you are fortunate enough to get High Trail Cliffs on a good day, there is a lot to play around with and jump off of. The pitch is nice and steep and cliffs can range anywhere from 10 feet to over 40 feet.
Difficulty
Severe
Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
