Valley Peak & Valley Cove Trail Map

This loop begins at the Flying Mountain, Valley Peak and Valley Cove parking lot on Fernard Point Rd off Route 102.

Description

You could do the loop in either direction, but I went in a clockwise direction. First, the trail goes up steeply through the woods to Valley Peak, then continues along the ridge until the trail intersection w/ Saint Sauveur Mountain. Continue right to descend the Valley Peak Trail to the intersection of Valley Cove Trail and Acadia Mountain Trail. Take a right onto Valley Cove Trail which features several recently renovated stone stair cases along the steep eastern side of Valley Peak, near the shore of Somes Sound. The Valley Cove Trail leads to a nice rocky beach at the intersection with Flying Mountain Trail. Return to the trail head parking area on either the easy fire road or bag another peak on the Flying Mountain Trail.
