False Summit Left Map

A wide, steep couloir that opens into a broad basin below, False Summit Left is a challenging run, but can be attempted by non-experts ready to challenge themselves on a double black diamond. This chute is steep, but relatively wide. The entrance is straightforward. Watch for the traverse track that runs across the top of this slope. Work the ridges or enjoy the funnel shaped couloir through the center. Below the narrowest part of the chute, False Summit Right opens into Powder Bowl for a total of 850 vertical feet. At the bottom, catch the traverse track towards Bear Pits for another 500 vertical feet. Alternately, join the Lucky Shot groomer to the base of Rainier Express. The only downside of riding Powder Bowl is that it takes two chair rides to get back to the top to do it again
