Grandview Rim Trail Map

The Grandview Rim Trail is one of New River's classic overlook hikes, offering spectacular views looking down on the deepest segment of the New. Enjoy a short 0.5-mile interpretive walk with views along the rim, or hike the entire trail to Turkey Spur for even more incredible views - then retrace your steps back to the trailhead. If you have a second vehicle, the park also suggests shuttling as an option.

Description

One of the most popular ways to enjoy this hike is to stick to the North and Main overlooks near the trailhead. It's a short stroll everyone in the family will enjoy, and a brochure is available to accompany most of the hike. Wildlife such as deer, fox, bats, turkey, and ravens, among others, can commonly be spotted along the Grandview Trails.

As a whole, the entire trail is rated as moderate, though most of the trail could be considered easy. Near the Turkey Spur in particular, there are several brief, but steep sections that are sure to get your heart rate up. Both water and restrooms are available at the main trailhead but not along the trail.

The Grandview Rim Trail was formerly known as the Canyon Rim Trail, not to be confused with the Canyon Rim Boardwalk overlooking the New River Gorge Bridge.
