Description

Nestled at the foot of the Pirin mountains, Bansko sits at 1200 metres and is one of the best known ski areas in Eastern Europe. It's hosted FIS World Cup alpine ski races and holds regular biathlon events too. It's also becoming an increasingly popular destination for adventurous skiers who want quieter, wilder - and cheaper - mountain towns than are generally found in the Alps.

In 2003 the town and ski area received a major upgrade when a gondola was installed to link the main settlement of Bankso with the ski slopes, removing the need to drive up to the lifts. As well as this gondola, Bansko also has 14 lifts which access over 1000 vertical metres of terrain. Most of the terrain is relatively mellow so Bansko is an ideal place for skiers who aren't seeking steep and scary runs, and just want to find some smile-inducing turns.

Showcased here are 4 freeride routes which will get you started on your journey of exploration through this thriving resort and the Pirin National Park.
