With a name like “Mammoth Lakes,” it’s no surprise that this region is chock-full of drop-dead-gorgeous alpine lakes.
Hiking Easy, Moderate, Difficult
One of the best ways to view the rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains is from the shores of a crystal-clear alpine lake with a snack and cold beverage in hand. With a name like “Mammoth Lakes,” it’s no surprise that this region is chock-full of drop-dead-gorgeous alpine lakes.
It seems like every one of the glacier-carved valleys in this region is home to one (or more) of these idyllic lakes. This huge number of lake options provides a wide range of hike difficulties. If you’d prefer a quick one-mile jaunt to a scenic view, try Heart Lake or Emerald Lake. Or if you’d prefer all-day affair that could just as easily be turned into an overnight backpacking trip, try Duck Lake on for size.
No matter the flavor of hike you’re looking for, you’ll find the perfect alpine lake hike in this guidebook!
