Copper already has some of Colorado's toughest lift-accessed terrain, and these lines lie just a little farther away, where most won't ride.
Freeride Skiing Moderate, Difficult
Copper is known for some of the best lift-accessed expert terrain in Colorado, especially now with a new chairlift that opens up Tucker Mountain. You’ll find freeride terrain all over Copper, but especially on Tucker and in the bowls. Some of it is too easy to reach, in fact, attracting Hollywood hopefuls who probably shouldn’t be there. It’s possible to escape the crowded zones though, with a little extra work and confidence, which definitely pays off when there’s fresh tracks to be had.
If all you want is airtime, Copper Bowl is the place to be, with cliffs and boulders of all sizes, where the snow holds well even long after a storm. When the whole mountain has good snow, you won’t want to miss Tucker Mountain and Spaulding Bowl, which each have some of Copper’s steepest terrain. They do get windblown though, so get them while they’re good. For the best tree runs, check out Enchanted Forest and Union Meadows on the frontside, which have tons of hidden features and tricky lines that the crowds won’t find.
