The easier trails at Lake Louise get loads of traffic during the summer. The path to Fairview Lookout is no exception, but it’s far less crowded than the Lakeshore Trail or even the trail to Lake Agnes. The views are more subdued than on those trails, however. It’s mostly a hike through the forest, but it culminates at a nice view of the lake and chateau against a mountain backdrop. This hike can still be ok in bad weather because it is not very steep and remains in the shelter of the trees, but low visibility means no view at the end.

Description

Begin from the uppermost parking lot or from near the boathouse on the lake, and enjoy the peaceful walk through the woods. You’ll walk among sturdy spruce trees and soft moss along an obvious path. In some places, you’ll step over roots and rocks, but nothing too difficult. You may see signs warning about dangerous wildlife. Encounters are rare, but it’s still best to hike in a group for safety.

At the end of the trail is a wooden platform with a view through the trees. This is an excellent spot for a photo and to learn about the history of the area on the informational signs. When you are satisfied, simply return the way you came.
