The route starts with a stop on the Georgian Military Road (42°31’10.3”N 44°28’3.4”E), opposite the old (non-functional) stone bridge 2.5 km away from the Cross Pass in the direction of Kazbegi.

Description

Taxi from Gudauri can take you to the start of the route and then pick you up at the Truso gorge near the first abandoned village Nogkau (42°34’32.2”N 44°28’27.5”E). The total cost of the round-trip car is 70-100 GEL.

Ascent to the Deda Ena passes along the classic path. The approach to the Khorisar volcano with a smooth height gain and the subsequent ascent to the peak through the southern couloir.

Multiple selection of descent lines on the northeastern (more open sections) and eastern slopes of Khorisar (couloirs).

You should take the route only under the conditions of good weather forecast on a sunny day.

There are three options to shorten the route in case of unfavorable weather, snow conditions and poor visibility - "A": You can go back from Deda Ena ridge down to the starting point; "B": after the descent from Deda Ena ridge you can go right into the Truso Gorge and "C": to decide not to ascend Khorisar volcano at its very foot, descend down its southwest slope towards the Truso gorge and go to the main route line without ascending to the top.
