The bivuac for ascensions in Monte Rosa
Ski Touring Difficult
This bivouac is located at Punta Balmehorn close to the "Cristo delle Vette". It is an autonomous refuge, so don't expect a warm breakfast here, it is indicated for high mountain expedition on Monte Rosa or as an emergency shelter. The bivouac can be reached from Indren, skinning up towards Piramide Vincent, and then pointing towards Colle Vincent you will spot the bivouac perched to the rocks of Punta Balmehorn. It has 6 sleeping spots, also there is a fireplace and gas. The last time I was up there the gas can was empty, so we ate our hands and drank tea bags and snow :) Just few meters above the bivouac there is the "Cristo delle Vette" The Lord of the peaks, which protects the alpinists who engage themselves in Monte Rosa.
